Awana News

We had a great first week of Awana! There is always a little chaos trying to get everyone to the right class, right room, etc. We are so glad you have chosen to have your child participate in Awana this year!

Awana Themes

If you have not visited the Awana page on our website, you’ll find it here. On that page, you can view the Awana calendar. Each week we have a special theme that will earn the kids extra points to spend at our store later in the year. Kids also earn points from bringing their Bible, wearing their uniform, bringing their handbook and attending Sunday School (at any church!). This week’s theme? Bring a Friend! We encourage you to invite your neighbors and school friends!

Order Forms

On that same web page, under Awana Resources (look on the menu on the left), you can also find each club’s order form. So, if you have not ordered your child a handbook or uniform for this year, you can download the order form and bring it with you. We will have extra copies here as well on Wednesday night. We can accept cash, check or credit card. If money is a problem, please just let me know. We will not let money keep anyone from participating in Awana! If you have already placed your order, please be patient in waiting on things to arrive. Awana Headquarters is experiencing high traffic at the moment, and orders are taking much longer than normal.

Cubbie Parents

There is also a link to the Cubbie Calendar. It will tell you what Bear Hug your child will need to work on to be prepared for each week. Each Bear Hug also contains some extra work called Under the Apple Tree. Your child will not have to do the extra work to earn their book award; but if you are looking for some more activities to do with them, it would give you a good start.

Safety Notice

One of our Awana clubbers has a severe allergy to peanuts. While our church has a no-nut policy for snacks served in the preschool and children’s area, we also wanted to alert you to this allergy. If your child eats peanuts—or peanut butter—during the day, please have them wash their hands and face before coming to Awana. Even residue can cause this child to have an allergic reaction. We don’t want to keep your child from eating peanut butter, but we also want to keep this child safe. We appreciate your help with this safety concern!

Ways to Volunteer

We are always looking for substitutes or other helpers for Awana. If you are interested in helping with check-in (from 6:15-6:40, or so), handbook time or game time, please send me an email. We can set up a time to meet, do a background check and find the right spot for you!

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday at 6:30 PM!

P.S.: Don’t forget that children’s choir starts this week at 5:00 PM, if your child (Kindergarten-5th grade) would like to join us!
