These were Jesus’ final words. It has been 2000 years and Jesus has not during that time planted his feet on earth and audibly addressed his followers. Jesus laid down in the clearest terms the mission for those who are to follow him. This is the mission of the church—the mandate of Christianity.

Here in Acts 1:1-11 Jesus’ last words serve as a clarion call for you and me to make what was on Jesus’ mind as he went to heaven the number one issue in our lives – making the gospel of Jesus known to a world that needs to know him or as our mission statement reads: “engage people to put Jesus first for the sake of others.”
