Rio Vista Food Drive

September 3, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:00am on Sunday, happening 5 times

Outreach has been a big part of Foothills history and continues to be so. Each year we are able to participate in a variety of outreach programs that help reach the lost and less fortunate. We’ve been able to do this through programs such as the Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon Offering that give direct funding to missionaries, providing gifts to children who have a mom or dad in prison through Angel Tree, and filling the needs of those less fortunate in Phoenix metro area with Rio Vista. We are truly living out our core value of reaching lost people.

This year we continue our partnership with Rio Vista Center. If you are not familiar with Rio Vista, they are a Christian organization that responds to the needs of the Valley’s less fortunate through compassionate initiatives and efforts focused directly on the needs of the community.

Starting on Sunday, August 27, we are restarting our annual food drive for Rio Vista and together we will fill up their pantry, giving their workers the supply of food they need to take care of those in their care.

Just like in years past, we will park a white pick-up truck on the front patio of the worship center and we are asking you to “fill up this truck.”

So bring your non-perishables and get ready to bless the lives of others who are our local, Arizona neighbors.

All About Rio Vista Center

On top of this food drive that helps feed those less fortunate, Rio Vista also offers other programs that greatly benefit our city and community. The main population receiving assistance and aid from Rio Vista is obviously the South Phoenix area, but with a benevolent reach to people all over the valley, the need for their work is real. In 2016 alone, Rio Vista feeds and clothes around 50,000 people!

Here is just a sample of the programs that Rio Vista operates:

  • Emergency food boxes (TEFAP)
  • Farmers market
  • Clothing
  • Job center
  • SNAP services
  • New Life Pregnancy Center
  • Community garden

As a non-profit Christian organization, Rio Vista responds compassionately to the needs of the Valley’s less fortunate by mobilizing and working with the community. It is through programs like the ones listed above that they are able to accomplish Kingdom-focused work.

Let’s truly make a difference through our food drive and bless those less fortunate. Please drop off your donations at the church. The office is open Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:00 pm and Friday 8:30-noon.
