The closer we get to December 25 the more opportunities you will have to extend the generosity of Christ to those who may not traditionally experience the holiday season like we do. Our staff and leadership has spent time looking at the responsibilities we have as Jesus followers and the opportunities to be his hands and feet and we are excited to share with you the way Foothills is ready to “Go” from October through December.
BAG – TAG – BOX
From October 25 through December 13 we have an opportunity to “Go” in three simple, yet profound ways. While there is one call to “Go” it will be manifest in three unique ways. Each unique opportunity enables you to be part of the solution to a real need in someone’s life, as well as pass on the Gospel to those who need to know Jesus!
Get familiar with the phrase “BAG-TAG-BOX” because you’ll be hearing it a lot.
Thanksgiving
BAG? Many people in south Phoenix struggle to put food on the table, particularly at Thanksgiving. Your mission is to pick up a Rio Vista Thanksgiving Bag in the foyer on Sunday 10/25 and fill it using the attached shopping list. When you do you can meet the need of hungry people, and connect them to a local ministry that will share the gospel with that family! Return your bag/s by Sunday, November 15.
Angel Tree
TAG? When a parent is in prison, their children often suffer in silence, unseen by many. Through Angel Tree, we are able to answer the requests and prayers of an incarcerated parent for the sake of their children, in our community and beyond. We are also privileged to deliver those gifts to the family, and have the opportunity to show and share the love of Christ with them! Take a tag from the Angel Tree beginning 11/29, and return your gifts by 12/13.
Operation Christmas Child
BOX? Operation Christmas Child is an amazing opportunity to “Go” global without ever getting on a plane! Fill a shoebox with some fun and practical items and you’ll share the joy of Christmas and the Gospel with a child somewhere in the world. Consider this – many of these gifts find their way into the hands of children who are part of some of the most unreached peoples in the world. Pick up a box beginning Sunday 10/25 and return it filled by 11/15.
