One of the things we want to continue to do is to pray for our new Lead Elder and also for ourselves as a church. God has a plan for Foothills already, we need to pray for Godly wisdom, discernment, and sensitivity to His Holy Spirit, that we will be receptive and ready to hear His voice and direction for us.

• Pray for our church that we would lay aside our personal desires and preferences, that we would desire God’s choice for our church more than our own. God is not confused about who He has chosen, and He is doing a work in us and in this person as He prepares us both.

 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts? -Isaiah 55: 8-9

• Pray for God’s choice, that God would prepare his heart and give him peace and assurance that He is leading him to serve as the new Lead Elder at Foothills.

Father, we are grateful that Your ways and Your thoughts are higher than ours. As we wait and trust in Your leading of us to a new lead elder, help us to put aside any personal bias or personal preferences we may have. Father, it is Your church, Jesus is our ultimate Lead Elder and we see throughout scripture where You appointed elders to oversee the local church.

Lord as we wait for Your appointed lead elder for us, we pray for him and his heart that there would be an assurance and a peace over his soul, and a confidence in Your leading. Thank You for hearing our prayer, and as we continue to worship by giving, we thank You again for the privilege of being able to partner with You in Your Kingdom’s work of reaching people with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Bless the gifts and the givers as we give.
