Elder Candidates

Foothills Church Family,

As we read the Scripture, we believe that God has ordered His church to be led by a team of elders and served by deacons. The elders/pastors lead the church to carry out her mission in the world, preach/teach the Scripture, care for the church family and protect them from error. They are accountable to God for the way in which they serve, and should be of such integrity and faith that if the church follows them, she will be healthier for it.

Since late December, we have been praying and working through the elder selection process. We truly appreciate your prayers for us and this process, for your encouragement, and your trust. It is our sincere desire to love and lead the church family well in these important days.

During the Family Meeting on Sunday March 3, the Elders presented the names of four men as elder candidates. The congregation will vote to affirm these men by secret ballot during a special Family Meeting on Sunday, March 31 at 4:00 pm.

Over the next 28 days, you are encouraged to connect with these men. Ask them questions, and raise any concerns you may have. Each is committed to be available to you on Sunday mornings and look forward to the conversations.

During worship, the congregation will also hear each man share his testimony of faith in Christ and sense of calling to serve as a lay elder. The schedule is:

  • March 10 – Jon Tso
  • March 17 – Rick Burress
  • March 24 – Kevin Allen
  • March 31 – Gary Plooster

Take some time to read each profile and get to know these men. Finally, continue to pray that God would be glorified and His church built up as we take this next step.
