This is why, since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I never stop giving thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.

This month our prayer points come directly from the apostle Paul’s prayer for the Christians living in Ephesus 2,000 years ago. Paul prays for two things. First, that God would give them the Spirit of wisdom of revelation in the knowledge of Him. Secondly, that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened.

Pray then, that God would be so gracious to give Foothills Baptist Church the “Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of who He is.” In other words, pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal to us a greater understanding of the gloriousness of the Almighty God.

Pray also, that the result of this gained knowledge would be an “enlightening of our hearts.” In other words, ask God to help us joyfully restructure our beliefs, our desires and our lives based on what His word says.

Of course these requests can only come to fruition if we are a people who spend time reading and studying and examining and meditating on the Holy Scriptures. Pray therefore, that Foothills Baptist Church would be a people who spend time with God through the Word and prayer, “so that we will know what is the hope of His calling, and what is the wealth of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power.”
