Prayer Points: October

“For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”

-Romans 8:22-25

Much could be drawn from these verses to pray for. But let me direct our attention to two things.

We live in a world that bears the curse of sin. Therefore, when we see a “natural disaster” occur on our planet, we should remember that the earth is enslaved to corruption eagerly waiting for its freedom at the return of Christ. Until then let us pray for those who live through such a tragedy.
1) Pray for the churches in Indonesia who will be tasked to present the gospel of light in the horrors of darkness.

Not only does the earth long for redemption, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Holy Spirit long for our corrupted bodies to be set free from sin. We eagerly wait for the adoption as sons. Suffering will be the theme of our lives.
2) Pray that we as Foothills Baptist Church will be faithful to present the gospel of light through the horrors of our suffering.

May God Be Glorified!
