After nearly 70 years of exile, God’s people are about to leave Babylon. But God gives Daniel a vision to show him what is to come. To us Daniel 8 is ancient history, but for Daniel and the people, it is prophecy. God shows Daniel and the people that there will be an extended period of suffering and trouble, but it will be limited to 2,300 evenings and mornings. In the end, God will put a stop to it all, and Daniel, while troubled, will continue to be ‘about the king’s business.” The bottom line for us as God’s people is the need to persevere in the face of trouble, until the time of trouble is up by God’s design.
