The early church provides powerful examples of how different communities navigated their calling to spread the gospel. The Jerusalem church established four foundational building blocks: devotion to Scripture, fellowship, worship, and prayer. The Antioch church became remarkable for its diversity and was the first church planting church. However, the Ephesian church, despite being doctrinally sound and hardworking, received a warning from Jesus for abandoning their first love. Every church needs an identity compass guided by the mission to make disciples, shaped by submission to Scripture, commitment to community, and engagement in gospel advancement. A clear discipleship pathway helps believers grow from coming to faith through serving and going with the gospel.
