This text has three main themes. You could describe them this way: This is the story of a wondrous, miraculous rescue for one entire people to be remembered forever. And when you read the passage, you find three purpose statements that stand out. They help you answer the question – why did God do this? Those purposes are that God wanted to exalt Joshua as the Savior Leader of His people, God wants all people to know that He is mighty, and God wants His people to fear Him forever.
