Every person is a disciple of someone or something – the question is who or what you’re following. True discipleship is an act of abiding in Jesus in community, involving three key movements: the cost, the substance, and the mark. The cost requires giving up your whole life and making Jesus the center, not just changing behaviors. The substance is abiding in Jesus Himself, like branches connected to a vine, allowing Him to produce fruit rather than relying on willpower. The mark that identifies disciples is love – love for God and love for others. Discipleship cannot happen in isolation but requires community where believers can practice the one another commands of Scripture together.

Scripture: Luke 14:26-27; John 13:34-45, 15:4
