The book of Daniel concludes with a fourth and final vision. In chapter 10, it fills Daniel with fear, but God’s angel tells him that is for the end, and strengthens the aging prophet, encouraging him to stand firm, and reminding him that he is greatly loved. In chapter 11-12, God gives Daniel more details about the history to come that you see in chapter 8. The ultimate sense is that while human politics are ultimately futile, and sometimes brutal toward God’s people, God’s “wise ones” those who know their God will stand firm and act, and teach others. Before the end, the world will become far worse, with a ruthless, brutal ruler that threatens the very existence of God’s people. But in the end, the people of God will win, even in death. For at the last day, we will be raised, and shine like stars, inheriting our allotted place forever! So for now, trust God’s timing, persevere, and fix your eyes on the joy to come!
