Exodus is not simply a story of God bringing his people from A to B, or from Slavery to Freedom. It’s the story of how the Lord forms this family into a nation for His glory and the good of the world. So he gives them three rituals – Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Consecration of the Firstborn to help them remember that through the blood of the lamb they now: Belong to Him and they are not their own; and that He set them free from slavery to serve Him. The chapter ends with the start of their journey and the assurance that they can trust Him to lead them, no matter what!
