Every human heart faces a battle between what promises life and what actually delivers it. Proverbs 7 uses the story of a young man drawn toward a forbidden woman to illustrate what happens when anyone surrenders to sin in any form. Sin always makes the same promises: pleasure, affirmation, and secrecy. But no matter how attractive it appears, it never delivers what it advertises. The good news is that Christ, who is the wisdom of God, stepped into the very death that sin promises and conquered it through the resurrection. Because of Him, sin no longer has ultimate dominion over those who walk with God. The pull of temptation may feel strong, but the resurrection power of Christ living in you is stronger. Sin promises life and delivers death. Christ promised death and delivered life.
