Jesus demonstrated a comprehensive ministry that addressed both spiritual and physical needs through teaching, preaching, and healing. His ministry flowed from deep compassion for people who were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Jesus calls His followers to join Him in this mission, first through prayer for harvest workers, then by being willing to be sent ourselves. Every ministry in the church serves as a delivery system for the gospel, creating opportunities for people to encounter Christ. We are called to see people as Jesus sees them and respond with the same compassion that moves us to action.
