In First Peter 1:13-2:3, believers facing suffering are called to pursue holiness not as an additional burden but as a pathway to experiencing Christ’s hope. Peter encourages Christians to set their minds on Christ’s return, put away sinful passions, and remember Christ’s sacrifice. This obedience manifests in genuine love for fellow believers and a longing for spiritual growth through Scripture. At its core, the pursuit of holiness is about dependence on Christ, which brings not a heavier burden but complete rest in Jesus, even amid external suffering.
