Psalms are ancient songs used in specific situations to address the human experience and the realities of God that inform one’s experience of their current circumstances. Each Psalm was written to be sung for a specific occasion. Psalm 2 was written for times of national crisis to remind the Israelites of how God saw their situation.
Like the ancient Israelites, we can read these verses and be reminded that there is nothing outside of God’s control and that He laughs at those who conspire against His kingdom.
