John 16:33 is the final word Jesus gives His sorrowful disciples just before His crucifixion and resurrection. He makes a promise to them that’s meant to enable them to follow Him fully in the world, the face of the opposition and brokenness of the world.
So we walk through the text asking the following questions:
Why does Jesus’ promise matter?
What does the promise of Jesus show us?
What does the promise of Jesus expose in us?
How does the promise of Jesus solve the problem?
