John writes his gospel to persuade followers of Jesus to keep on trusting their lives to Him, at all times, no matter what, believing He always does what is best. And he writes to persuade people who are not yet followers to believe on Jesus.

John organizes his gospel around 7 “signs” Jesus performs. A sign is more than a miracle, not just a display of power, but a pointer to spiritual truth beyond it. When Jesus turns water to wine His power is certainly on display. And so is His grace for the needs of people. But mainly, the sign points to who Jesus is, what He came to do, what He provides, and how we should respond to Him!

Scripture: John 2:1-11, 1:29, 35, 43, 51; Amos 9; Isaiah 25; Jeremiah 31; Revalations 21
