When you look at the life of Jesus and His own words about Himself, it’s clear He had a deep sense of self-awareness that He was made for mission. In fact, you can’t really know who Jesus of Nazareth is or understand what he did apart from knowing that he was sent.

What is mission? It’s what you do, what you invest in, what you build your life around, even when it costs you your reputation, your money, your time, your comfort, or safety. Mission calls you out, away from the familiar, the comfortable, and convenient. It reorders your life and refines your dreams for today and the future. Like Jesus, mission dominates your thoughts, drives your actions, dictates your words, and fuels your passions. It is the cause that grips you so tightly and has gone down into you so deeply that it’s not just what you do, it’s who you are.

In this text we see that the mission of Jesus is the model for our mission in the world.

Scripture: John 17:13-21, 17:3, 3:17, chapters 4, 5, 6, 13; 2 Kings 7:1-9
