The Pattern of Suffering and Exaltation

Following Jesus sometimes leads to suffering for doing what’s right, which can feel deeply unfair and confusing. The apostle Peter wrote to believers experiencing this exact situation, offering five powerful encouragements. First, remember that Christ also suffered unjustly, so we’re not alone in our trials. Second, Jesus’ death and resurrection bring us to God, solving our greatest problem of sin. Third, like Noah who remained faithful despite opposition, being in the minority with God means we have nothing to fear. Fourth, baptism reminds us we’ve already passed through judgment and are united with Christ. Finally, we can rejoice knowing that suffering leads to glory, just as it did for Jesus who now reigns at God’s right hand.
