Many people today describe themselves as spiritual but not religious, seeking transformation through various practices. However, true spiritual life begins not through our own efforts or law-keeping, but by receiving the Holy Spirit as a gift through faith in Christ. The apostle Paul teaches that the way we begin the Christian life is the same way we live it – by grace through faith, not by depending on ourselves. When we struggle with sin or feel distant from God, the solution isn’t self-improvement but looking to Jesus Christ crucified. The Holy Spirit dwelling within believers is God himself, not just a spiritual force, making this far more than any other religion promises.
