Five times in three chapters, 14-16, Jesus speaks to them about the coming Helper, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. He’s going away, and they’re filled with sorrow. He says it’s to their advantage, but they can’t see it. He says the Spirit will come to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment to guide them into all truth.
Jesus is helping them to see the nature of their relationship with Him when He goes, and the nature of their relationship with the world. We see in this text that because of the work of the Holy Spirit, followers of Jesus are against the world and for the world.
