Baptism at Foothills

Baptism doesn’t make you a follower of Jesus – it shows you have already decided to follow Him.

Our baptism process

Baptism is an event where those who have become followers of Jesus “go public” with their decision. We believe the Bible teaches that baptism is for any person old enough to make a personal decision to repent of their sin and trust in Jesus for salvation.

Baptism doesn’t make you a follower of Jesus – it shows you have already decided to follow Him. Baptism is an outward symbol of the commitment you’ve made to Christ.

Preparation for baptism

  • Arrive at the Music Suite 30 minutes prior to the service in which you will be baptized.
  • Wear shorts or pants. You will receive a T-Shirt for baptism.
  • Bring a complete change of clothes, a towel, a plastic bag for your wet clothes and basic grooming items.

If you are ready to be baptized, please contact one of the pastors or email us. We look forward to helping you take this step of faith as you follow Christ!

Our beliefs about baptism

baptism symbolizes a death and burial

Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and through baptism, we are declaring that we have died to our sin, and we are putting our old way of life behind us as we follow Jesus. Romans 6:4

baptism symbolizes a resurrection

Jesus also rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. Through baptism you are saying, “Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, I’ve now been given new life in Jesus!” Colossians 2:12

baptism is a sign of repentance

Repentance means change. Through baptism you are saying, “I am turning away from my self-reliance and trusting in Jesus alone with all my heart. My life will never be the same!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

baptism shows I’m included in God’s family

Since the earliest days of Christianity, baptism has been the way followers of Jesus identified themselves with Him and each other. Acts 2:38-41 Baptism is how someone publicly professes their faith in Jesus, and shows that you are now part of God’s family.
