Dear Church Family,
2019 has been a year of transition. In December and January, the church nominated men and women as potential Deacons. Thank you for your patience as we walked through our transition plan to get to the place where we could present candidates to serve as Deacons.
During our Family Meeting on Sunday October 20, we presented the names of five men and women as candidates to serve in the role of Deacon, beginning January 1, 2020. Please take a few moments to read their profiles and get to know them. We will vote to affirm them in our Family Meeting on Sunday, December 8 at 4:00 pm.
The Scriptures teach us that God has ordered His church to be led by a team of Elders and served by a team of Deacons.
We believe Acts 6 is a “prototype” of the diaconate. In Philippians 1 and 1 Timothy 3, you find that God has created a specific role referred to as the Deacon. These men and women form a team of servants who meet genuine needs within the church family, uniting the church through service and who support the work of the Elders, as they carry out the ministry of prayer and the word.
The Deacons at Foothills serve under the leadership of the Elder Team, and ought to be men and women of good reputation, full of the spirit and wisdom as they carry out their task with joy!
Trusting Jesus with you,
The Elder Team
