Paul commissions Titus to build a healthy church, an embassy of the kingdom of heaven, in a very broken place. And the first thing Paul tells him to “put into order” is the leadership of the church. So in 1:5-9 Paul tells Titus to appoint Elders in each church. And this text answers three questions for us: Why do we need Elders? What kind of Elders do we need? How do we get Elders?
